Three People Killed as Plane Crashes Into Helicopter Near Mount Everest

A small passenger plane skidded off the runway and smashed into a parked helicopter at the only airport in Nepal’s Everest region on Sunday.

The crash occurred while the Summit Air plane was trying to take off from Lukla for Kathmandu, said aviation officials.

Three people were killed and four injured after a plane crashed during takeoff.

The crash occurred while the plane, a Czech-manufactured Let L-410 belonging to Summit Air, was trying to take off from Lukla for Kathmandu on Sunday morning 14th April 2019. It was gathered that the plane skidded off the runaway, hitting a Manang Air helicopter.

Both are private airline companies that provide what is needed for tourists and Nepalese in the country’s remote areas.

The injured were airlifted to Kathmandu by helicopter. The dead includes the pilot of the plane and two police officers who were near the parked helicopter.
